Create on a desktop or laptop
Use a desktop-sized browser with a keyboard and pointing device for creation and editing. Compact screens use a view-only reader for saved Worlds, Wiki and Scribe content.
Use a current browser
Use an up-to-date browser with JavaScript, Web Workers and browser storage enabled. Private browsing, storage restrictions and browser extensions can affect saving or sign-in. A complete browser and device compatibility matrix has not yet been established.
Allow time and memory for generation
World generation runs on your device. Your processor, available memory and chosen settings affect generation time and the size of worlds you can comfortably create. Close demanding tabs if generation struggles and start with the default world settings. There is no published, benchmarked minimum RAM or processor specification, and generation times are not guaranteed.
Graphics support for 3D views
3D system views require WebGL 2 support and functioning browser graphics acceleration. Use the 2D system view if 3D graphics are unavailable. Some globe views have a reduced-detail fallback; this does not guarantee that every view works on every device.
Connect for your account and cloud work
Internet access is needed for sign-in, cloud saving, synchronisation and sharing. Local generation does not mean the whole service works offline. Wait for saving to complete before closing the tab or changing devices.
Keep independent copies
Use the available exports for important work. Clearing browser data can remove local-only or unsynchronised work. An individual map or writing export may not contain your whole Paracosm, uploaded media or every setting.
Procedural worlds
The current terrain generator uses procedural algorithms running in your browser, rather than sending a world-generation prompt to an external AI model. Generation can produce similar results and is not a guarantee of unique output or exclusive intellectual-property rights.
