Review draft

This text is available for review. It is not an effective agreement and users are not being asked to accept this draft.

A workspace for imagined worlds.

1. About these terms

Paracosm Studio is a worldbuilding service for creating and organising maps, worlds, wiki entries, stories and related media. These terms govern your use of the service supplied by Louis Goldsbrough, trading as Firethorn Digital.

You can contact us at support@paracosmstudio.io. Our business contact address is 35 Ringway, Bolton upon Dearne, S63 8BN. The published terms will identify their effective date. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.

Before entering your signed-in workspace, you will be asked to actively agree to the current terms. We record the document version and acceptance time against your account. We will ask again on a subsequent signed-in visit when a new terms version requires your agreement; we do not treat an unticked box or silence as acceptance.

2. Your account

Provide accurate account information, keep your sign-in details secure and use only an account you are entitled to access. Tell us if you think your account has been compromised. Do not share credentials or use another person’s account without permission.

Google sign-in is optional. It authenticates a Paracosm account using Google’s basic identity information. Google controls its own account and sign-in service; removing Google access does not automatically delete your Paracosm account or work.

You must be at least 13 to use Paracosm. If you are 13–17, a parent or guardian must review these terms with you and agree to your use. You must not create an account if you do not meet these requirements.

3. Your work and our permission to operate the service

You retain the rights you already hold in content you create or upload. These terms do not transfer ownership of your writing, worldbuilding or uploaded material to us. You must have the rights and permissions needed to upload and use that material.

You give us a non-exclusive permission to store, process, reproduce and display your content only as needed to provide, secure and support the features you use, including cloud saving, requested sharing and necessary backups. Service providers may process content on our behalf for those purposes.

Public promotion or showcasing of your private creative work requires separate permission. Publishing a shared view is a separate choice and is governed by the access setting you select.

This permission ends when your content is deleted from the service, except for copies retained in necessary backups or for a lawful retention or security purpose. Those copies remain subject to the limits above and our Privacy Policy.

Procedural output and third-party assets may be subject to different rights or licences. We do not promise that generated output is unique, original or eligible for exclusive protection. Check rights and attribution requirements before commercial use or redistribution.

4. Sharing and publication

When you publish a shared view, check its content and audience before sharing the link. Link-access views can be read by anyone who obtains their link. Invited-only views restrict access through the service to eligible accounts. Readers may still make copies or screenshots.

Revoking or changing a share limits subsequent access through Paracosm. It cannot remove material already copied, downloaded or cached elsewhere. Do not publish confidential information or someone else’s personal information without an appropriate basis and permission where required.

5. Acceptable use

You must not use Paracosm to:

  • Break the law, infringe intellectual-property rights, or unlawfully disclose personal or confidential information.
  • Harass, threaten or exploit others, or distribute malicious software or unlawful content.
  • Share pornographic content, child sexual exploitation or abuse material, non-consensual intimate images, or terrorist material that is unlawful to publish.
  • Access another person’s private work or account without authorisation, evade access controls or misuse support and administrative systems.
  • Disrupt the service, abuse resources, bypass account limits or interfere with other users.
  • Misrepresent your identity or impersonate another person or organisation.

Report suspected infringement or abuse through our Safety and support page or the contact above, with enough information to identify and investigate it. You do not need an account to email a report. Do not copy, download or attach suspected child sexual abuse material; provide its location and a brief description instead. Use the same contact to challenge a content or account decision.

6. Experimental features, saving and availability

Paracosm is an evolving service and may include experimental features. Generated content can contain errors, and tools, limits or supported formats may change. Check important results before relying on them.

Some work and preferences are stored in your browser and some are saved to your account. Clearing browser storage, changing devices or losing a connection may affect access to locally stored or unsynchronised work. Keep independent copies of important material using the export options available to you.

We aim to maintain the service and resolve faults, but do not promise uninterrupted access or that every feature will be available on every device. These statements do not exclude rights or obligations that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.

Device requirements and generation

Read the world generation requirements before creating worlds or choosing a plan. Creation and editing are designed for desktop-sized browsers; compact screens provide a view-only reader. Terrain generation runs on your device using procedural algorithms. Processor speed, available memory and chosen settings affect performance. Some 3D views require compatible browser graphics support. Internet access is needed for account, cloud-saving and sharing features.

There is no guaranteed generation time or published benchmarked minimum hardware specification. Use the available exports for important work; an individual export may not include your entire workspace. Generated terrain is fictional and is not a scientific or real-world navigation product.

7. Plans and charges

Any account limits will be shown in the service. These terms alone do not authorise a payment. If we offer a paid plan, we will present its price, billing period, features, renewal arrangements and applicable cancellation or refund information before you commit.

8. Suspension and ending use

You can stop using the service at any time. Contact us to request account deletion or help retrieving eligible information. Signing out or disconnecting Google is not the same as deleting an account.

We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address a breach of these terms, protect users or comply with the law. Where appropriate and safe, we will explain the reason and provide a way to raise a mistake. Urgent security or legal circumstances may require immediate action.

Where practical, we will give reasonable notice of a restriction or service closure and an opportunity to retrieve important content using the available export options. Immediate action may be necessary for serious abuse, security incidents or legal requirements. Contact us if you believe a restriction is mistaken. Account deletion is handled on request; disconnecting a sign-in provider is not a deletion request.

9. Responsibility and your legal rights

You are responsible for the content you choose to upload and publish, the permissions you grant, and how you use the service’s output. We remain responsible for obligations that applicable law places on us.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

10. Changes and questions

We may update these terms as the service changes. We will make the current version available and give appropriate notice of material changes. Changes will not remove statutory rights or retrospectively change an agreement where that would be unlawful.

If you have a concern, contact us so that we can try to resolve it. Nothing in these terms removes mandatory protections under the law that applies to you or your rights to bring a claim in a court available to you under that law.
